ThyssenKrupp's carbon footprint

ThyssenKrupp reported Total CO2e Emissions - Location-Based Scope 1 + Scope 2 for the twelve months ending 30 September 2022 at 22,200 Kt (-1,600 /-6.7% y-o-y). Also positively, carbon intensity tumbled to 458 t (-135 /-22.8% y-o-y).

ThyssenKrupp's Scope 3 emissions plunged to 3,600 Kt (-300 /-7.7% y-o-y). The parameter has been fairly volatile.

The company is committed to reducing Scope 1 + 2 by 30% by 2030 from a base year 2018, which translates into the estimated reduction of -675 Kt per annum over the period of FY2023 - FY2030. This science-based target is aligned with Paris Agreement to limit global warming to <2°C above pre-industrial levels.

Also, the company commits to achieving net zero for all Scopes by 2050, which translates into the estimated reduction of -921 Kt per annum over the period of FY2023 - FY2050. This target, however, has not been recognised as science-based (and as aligned with Paris Agreement) by the SBTi.
