NASDAQ reported Total CO2e Emissions - Market-Based Scope 1 + Scope 2 for the twelve months ending 31 December 2020 at 4.5 Kt (-0.97 /-17.6% y-o-y).

NASDAQ's Scope 3 emissions took off to 55 Kt (+27/+96% y-o-y). The growth accelerated compared to the long-term upward trend (CAGR of +25% since 4Q'18).

The company has not set a company-wide target for an absolute reduction in GHG emissions yet.

NASDAQ also has a science-based goal that, however, does not appear to explicitly target a company-wide reduction in emissions in absolute terms. Overall Net-Zero Target Nasdaq commits to reach net-zero greenhouse gas emissions across the value chain by 2050 from a 2021 base year. Near-Term Targets Nasdaq commits to reduce absolute scope 1 and scope 2 GHG emissions 100% by 2030 from a 2021 base year. Nasdaq also commits to continue annually sourcing 100% renewable electricity through 2030. Nasdaq further commits to reduce absolute scope 3 GHG emissions 50% by 2030 from a 2021 base year. Finally, Nasdaq commits that 70% of its suppliers by spend covering purchased goods and services and capital goods will set science-based targets by 2027. Long-Term Targets Nasdaq commits to maintain a minimum of 100% absolute scope 1 and 2 GHG emissions reductions from 2030 through 2050 from a 2021 base year. Nasdaq also commits to reduce absolute scope 3 GHG emissions 95% by 2050 from a 2021 base year.
