Carrefour reported Total CO2e Emissions - Location-Based Scope 1 + Scope 2 for the twelve months ending 31 December 2021 at 1,483 Kt (-181 /-10.9% y-o-y). Also positively, carbon intensity declined to 17 t (-2.9 /-14.7% y-o-y).

Carrefour's Scope 3 emissions plummeted to 311 Kt (-26 /-7.7% y-o-y). The decline accelerated compared to the CAGR of -2.3% since 4Q'17.

The company has not set a company-wide target for an absolute reduction in GHG emissions yet.

Carrefour also has a science-based goal that, however, does not appear to explicitly target a company-wide reduction in emissions in absolute terms. Carrefour Group commits to reduce absolute scope 1 and 2 GHG emissions of 30% by 2030 and 55% by 2040 from a 2019 base year. Carrefour Group also commits to reduce absolute scope 3 GHG emissions from purchased goods and services and use of sold products of 29% by 2030 from a 2019 base year.
