BillerudKorsnas reported Total CO2e Emissions - Market-Based Scope 1 + Scope 2 for 31 December 2021 at 138 Kt (-3 /-2.1% y-o-y). Also positively, carbon intensity plunged to 45 t (-7 /-13.4% y-o-y).

BillerudKorsnas's Scope 3 emissions increased to 460 Kt (+7/+1.5% y-o-y). The growth has slowed compared to the trend since 4Q'19 (CAGR +5%).

The company has not set a company-wide target for an absolute reduction in GHG emissions yet.

BillerudKorsnas also has a science-based goal that, however, does not appear to explicitly target a company-wide reduction in emissions in absolute terms. BillerudKorsnäs commits to reduce its absolute scope 1 and 2 greenhouse gas emissions 59% by 2030 from a 2016 base year. BillerudKorsnäs also commits to reduce its scope 3 emissions 30% by 2030 from a 2016 base year.
