Atlantia aims to reduce Scope 1 + 2 by 50% by 2030 from a base year 2019

Atlantia's carbon footprint

Atlantia reported Total CO2e Emissions - Market-Based Scope 1 + Scope 2 for the twelve months ending 31 December 2021 at 187 Kt (-29 /-13.5% y-o-y). Also positively, carbon intensity plummeted to 22 t (-9.4 /-29.8% y-o-y).

Atlantia's Scope 3 emissions decreased to 1,004 Kt (-203 /-16.8% y-o-y). This is broadly in line with the declining trend (CAGR -17.9%) since 4Q'19.

The company is committed to reducing Scope 1 + 2 by 50% by 2030 from a base year 2019, which it appears to have already achieved as of 2021. This target, however, has not been recognised as science-based (and as aligned with Paris Agreement) by the SBTi.

Atlantia aims to achive carbon neutrality across its operations (Scope 1 + 2) in 2040. Companies normally become carbon neutral with the help of the acquisition of carbon offsets rather than absolute reductions in their own greenhouse emissions. Also, carbon neutrality does not include non-CO2 GHG emissions.
