Primary Climate Goal
Trelleborg aims to achieve carbon neutrality for Scope 1 + 2 by 2035
GHG emissions and Carbon intensity
Trelleborg reported Total CO2e Emissions - Location-Based Scope 1 + Scope 2 for the twelve months ending 31 December 2021 at 349 Kt (-9.2 /-2.6% y-o-y). Also positively, carbon intensity dropped to 88 t (-16 /-15.7% y-o-y).
No public disclosure of Scope 3 emissions has been found for Trelleborg at the moment.
The company is committed to achieving carbon neutrality for Scope 1 + 2 by 2035, which translates into the estimated reduction of -25 Kt per annum over the period of FY2022 - FY2035. This target, however, has not been recognised as science-based (and as aligned with Paris Agreement) by the SBTi.
Trelleborg aims to achive carbon neutrality across its operations (Scope 1 + 2) in 2035. Companies normally become carbon neutral with the help of the acquisition of carbon offsets rather than absolute reductions in their own greenhouse emissions. Also, carbon neutrality does not include non-CO2 GHG emissions.
Trelleborg also has a science-based goal that, however, does not appear to explicitly target a company-wide reduction in emissions in absolute terms. Trelleborg AB commits to reduce absolute scope 1 and 2 GHG emissions 50% by 2030 from a 2021 base year. Trelleborg AB also commits to reduce absolute scope 3 GHG emissions from purchased goods and services 25% within the same timeframe. *The target boundary includes biogenic land-related emissions and removals from bioenergy feedstocks
