Thales reported Total CO2e Emissions - Market-Based Scope 1 + Scope 2 for the twelve months ending 31 December 2021 at 186 Kt (-10 /-5.1% y-o-y). Also positively, carbon intensity declined to 9.7 t (-0.2 /-2% y-o-y).

Thales's Scope 3 emissions remained unchnaged at 9,346 Kt. The performance has been erratic recently.

The company has not set a company-wide target for an absolute reduction in GHG emissions yet.

Thales also has a science-based goal that, however, does not appear to explicitly target a company-wide reduction in emissions in absolute terms. Thales SA commits to reduce absolute scope 1 and 2 GHG emissions 50.4% by 2030 from a 2018 base year. Thales SA also commits to reduce absolute scope 3 GHG emissions from purchased goods and services, business travel, and use of sold products 15% within the same timeframe.* Thales SA further commits to reduce absolute indirect use-phase emissions 15% within the same timeframe.* *Non-CO₂ effects which may also contribute to aviation induced warming are not included in this target. Thales SA commits to report publicly on its collaboration with stakeholders to improve understanding of opportunities to mitigate the non-CO2 impacts of aviation annually over its target timeframe.
