Telenor's carbon footprint

Telenor reported Total CO2e Emissions - Market-Based Scope 1 + Scope 2 for the twelve months ending 31 December 2021 at 1.1 NOKth (-0.13 /-10.7% y-o-y). At the same time, carbon intensity remained flat at 0.1 t.

Telenor's Scope 3 emissions skyrocketed to 4 NOKth (+0.55/+16% y-o-y). There has been no consistent trend in recent years.

The company has not set a company-wide target for an absolute reduction in GHG emissions yet.

Telenor also has a science-based goal that, however, does not appear to explicitly target a company-wide reduction in emissions in absolute terms. The multinational telecommunications company, Telenor Group commits to reduce absolute scope 1 and 2 GHG emissions 64% by 2030 from a 2019 base year. Telenor Group also commits that 66% of its suppliers by spend, covering purchased goods and services, and capital goods, will have science-based targets by 2025. Telenor Group further commits that 100% of its investments will have science-based targets by 2025.
