Nexi reported Total CO2e Emissions - Market-Based Scope 1 + Scope 2 for the twelve months ending 31 December 2021 at 1 Kt (-0.12 /-10.2% y-o-y). Also positively, carbon intensity tumbled to 0.6 t (-0.5 /-45.5% y-o-y).

Nexi's Scope 3 emissions took off to 3.5 Kt (+2.3/+182% y-o-y). This is a higher growth rate than over the period since 4Q'19 (+78% CAGR).

The company has not set a company-wide target for an absolute reduction in GHG emissions yet.

Nexi also has a science-based goal that, however, does not appear to explicitly target a company-wide reduction in emissions in absolute terms. Overall Net-Zero Target Nexi commits to reach net-zero greenhouse gas emissions across the value chain by 2040 Near-Term Targets Nexi commits to reduce absolute scope 1 and 2 GHG emissions 42% by 2030 from a 2021 base year. Nexi also commits to increase annual sourcing of renewable electricity from 51.7% in 2021 to 100% by 2030. Nexi further commits that 78% of its suppliers by spend covering purchased goods and services will have science-based targets by 2027. Nexi finally commits that 70% of its suppliers by emissions covering capital goods, will have science-based targets by 2027. Long-Term Targets Nexi commits to reduce absolute scope 1, 2, and 3 GHG emissions 90% by 2040 from a 2021 base year.
