Microsoft reported Total CO2e Emissions - Market-Based Scope 1 + Scope 2 for the twelve months ending 30 June 2021 at 288 Kt (-59 /-16.9% y-o-y). Also positively, carbon intensity plummeted to 1.7 t (-0.7 /-29.2% y-o-y).

Microsoft also has a science-based goal that, however, does not appear to explicitly target a company-wide reduction in emissions in absolute terms. American multinational technology company Microsoft commits to continue annually source 100% renewable electricity through 2030. Microsoft also commits to reduce scope 3 GHG emissions intensity per unit of revenue 30% by 2030 from a 2017 base year and to avoid growth in absolute scope 3 emissions.
