Linde reported Total CO2e Emissions - Market-Based Scope 1 + Scope 2 for the twelve months ending 31 December 2020 at 37,216 Kt (-1,495 /-3.9% y-o-y). Also positively, carbon intensity declined marginally to 1,366 t (-5.3 /-0.4% y-o-y).

Linde's Scope 3 emissions decreased to 14,403 Kt (-1,009 /-6.5% y-o-y). The parameter has been fairly volatile.

The company has not set a company-wide target for an absolute reduction in GHG emissions yet.

Linde also has a science-based goal that, however, does not appear to explicitly target a company-wide reduction in emissions in absolute terms. Linde plc commits to reduce absolute scope 1 and 2 GHG emissions 35% by 2035 from a 2021 base year.* *The target boundary includes biogenic emissions and removals from bioenergy feedstocks.
