INPEX's carbon footprint

INPEX reported Total CO2e Emissions - Market-Based Scope 1 + Scope 2 for the twelve months ending 31 December 2020 at 7,675 Kt (-1,256 /-14.1% y-o-y). At the same time, carbon intensity grew to 1,052 t (+77/+7.9% y-o-y).

INPEX's Scope 3 emissions was down at 77,305 Kt (-9,321 /-10.8% y-o-y). There has been no consistent trend in recent years.

The company is committed to achieving net zero for Scope 1 + 2 by 2050, which translates into the estimated reduction of -256 Kt per annum over the period of FY2021 - FY2050. This target, however, has not been recognised as science-based (and as aligned with Paris Agreement) by the SBTi.
