Primary Climate Goal
Honeywell International aims to achieve carbon neutrality for Scope 1 + 2 by 2035
GHG emissions and Carbon intensity
Honeywell International reported Total CO2e Emissions - Location-Based Scope 1 + Scope 2 for the twelve months ending 31 December 2021 at 2,018 Kt (-230 /-10.2% y-o-y). Also positively, carbon intensity decreased to 59 t (-10 /-14.8% y-o-y).
Honeywell International's Scope 3 emissions increased to 16,853 Kt (
The company is committed to achieving carbon neutrality for Scope 1 + 2 by 2035, which translates into the estimated reduction of -144 Kt per annum over the period of FY2022 - FY2035. This target, however, has not been recognised as science-based (and as aligned with Paris Agreement) by the SBTi.
Honeywell International aims to achive carbon neutrality across its operations (Scope 1 + 2) in 2035. Companies normally become carbon neutral with the help of the acquisition of carbon offsets rather than absolute reductions in their own greenhouse emissions. Also, carbon neutrality does not include non-CO2 GHG emissions.
Honeywell International also has a science-based goal that, however, does not appear to explicitly target a company-wide reduction in emissions in absolute terms. Honeywell International Inc. commits to reduce absolute scope 1 and 2 GHG emissions 50% by 2037 from a 2019 base year. Honeywell International Inc. also commits to reduce absolute scope 3 GHG emissions 23% within the same timeframe.
