Getinge AB reported Total CO2e Emissions - Market-Based Scope 1 + Scope 2 for the twelve months ending 31 December 2021 at 15 Kt (-4 /-21.1% y-o-y). Also positively, carbon intensity was down at 4.7 t (-0.9 /-16.1% y-o-y).

Getinge AB's Scope 3 emissions declined to 3.1 Kt (-6.6 /-68% y-o-y).

The company is committed to achieving carbon neutrality for all Scopes by 2025, which translates into the estimated reduction of -4.4 Kt per annum over the period of FY2021 - FY2025. This target, however, has not been recognised as science-based (and as aligned with Paris Agreement) by the SBTi.

Getinge AB aims to achive carbon neutrality across its entire value chain (all Scopes) in 2025. Companies normally become carbon neutral with the help of the acquisition of carbon offsets rather than absolute reductions in their own greenhouse emissions. Also, carbon neutrality does not include non-CO2 GHG emissions.

Getinge AB also has a science-based goal that, however, does not appear to explicitly target a company-wide reduction in emissions in absolute terms. Overall Net-Zero Target Getinge AB commits to reach net-zero GHG emissions across the value chain by 2050 from a 2021 base year. Near-Term Targets Getinge AB commits to reduce absolute scope 1 and 2 GHG emissions 90% by 2030 from a 2021 base year. Getinge AB also commits to reduce absolute scope 3 GHG emissions 25% within the same timeframe. Long-Term Targets Getinge AB commits to maintain at least 90% absolute scope 1 and 2 GHG emissions reductions from 2030 through 2050. Getinge AB also commits to reduce absolute scope 3 GHG emissions 90% by 2050 from a 2021 base year.
