Digital Realty reported Total CO2e Emissions - Market-Based Scope 1 + Scope 2 for the twelve months ending 31 December 2020 at 1,866 Kt (+237/+15% y-o-y).

Digital Realty's Scope 3 emissions surged to 2,521 Kt (+744/+42% y-o-y). The growth accelerated relative to the long-term trend (+36% CAGR) observed since 4Q'18.

The company has not set a company-wide target for an absolute reduction in GHG emissions yet.

Digital Realty also has a science-based goal that, however, does not appear to explicitly target a company-wide reduction in emissions in absolute terms. Digital Realty commits to reduce scope 1 and 2 GHG emissions 68% per square foot by 2030 from a 2018 base year and commits to reduce scope 3 GHG emissions from purchased goods and services and fuel- and energy-related activities 24% per square foot within the same timeframe.
