Primary Climate Goal

This company has not set a company-wide target for an absolute reduction in GHG emissions yet

but has a science based goal that does not target absolute reductions but is still aligned with Paris Agreement according to SBTi

Delta Air Lines's carbon footprint

Delta Air Lines reported Total CO2e Emissions - Location-Based Scope 1 + Scope 2 for the twelve months ending 31 December 2020 at 17,816 Kt (-20,637 /-53.7% y-o-y). At the same time, carbon intensity skyrocketed to 1,042 t (+224/+27% y-o-y).

Delta Air Lines's Scope 3 emissions plunged to 1,639 Kt (-1,878 /-53.4% y-o-y). This is a higher rate of decline than over the period since 4Q'16 (-17.5% CAGR).

The company has not set a company-wide target for an absolute reduction in GHG emissions yet.

Delta Air Lines also has a science-based goal that, however, does not appear to explicitly target a company-wide reduction in emissions in absolute terms. Delta Air Lines commits to reduce well-to-wake scope 1 and 3 jet fuel GHG emissions 45% per revenue tonne kilometer by 2035 from a 2019 base year.* *Non-CO2e effects which may also contribute to aviation induced warming are not included in this target. Delta Air Lines commits to report publicly on its collaboration with stakeholders to improve understanding of opportunities to mitigate the non-CO2e impacts of aviation annually over its target timeframe.
