Adyen reported gross GHG emissions (Scope 1 + 2 before carbon offsets) for the twelve months ending 31 December 2022 at 4.6 Kt (+2.1/+87% y-o-y). At the sime time, carbon intensity fell to 0.3 t (-0.3 /-50% y-o-y).

Adyen's Scope 3 emissions soared to 53 Kt (+38/+238% y-o-y). The growth accelerated compared to the long-term upward trend (CAGR of +107% since 4Q'20).

The company has not set a company-wide target for an absolute reduction in GHG emissions yet.

Adyen achieved carbon neutrality across its entire value chain (all Scopes) in 2019. Companies normally become carbon neutral with the help of the acquisition of carbon offsets rather than absolute reductions in their own greenhouse emissions. Also, carbon neutrality does not include non-CO2 GHG emissions.
