Abrdn's carbon footprint

Abrdn reported Total CO2e Emissions - Location-Based Scope 1 + Scope 2 for the twelve months ending 31 December 2021 at 3.5 Kt (-0.93 /-21.2% y-o-y). Also positively, carbon intensity decreased to 1.5 t (-0.7 /-31.8% y-o-y).

Abrdn's Scope 3 emissions decreased to 8.8 Kt (-1.2 /-12% y-o-y). The rate of decline has slowed vs. the previous periods (CAGR -20.8% since 4Q'18).

The company is committed to achieving net zero for Scope 1 + 2 by 2040, which translates into the estimated reduction of -0.18 Kt per annum over the period of FY2022 - FY2040. This target, however, has not been recognised as science-based (and as aligned with Paris Agreement) by the SBTi.
